New Balance 2025 NYC Marathon

I had the great opportunity to work with a former Reebok graphics department coworker to create some New Balance product for their 2025 TCS New York City Marathon capsule.  Epic project!

I got this project as a last-minute thing while I was on a trip in Portland, Oregon, in the summer of 2024.  The timeline was super tight — they asked me for about 15 graphics in the space of less than a week.  Of course I said yes.

A lot of the designs we did had a hand-sketched element to them.  I drew these with markers, pens, and a mini Wacom tablet I bought on Facebook Marketplace as an emergency tool specifically for this project.

The designs I made wound up on stuff for Women, Men and Kids.  This one got made into a full-color kids tee, and a one-color mens tee.

 

I have extra love for the Verrazzano Bridge — my grandparents live on Staten Island.  I stayed in their Shaolin Attic for a stretch during a college internship semester, and then again right after I graduated.

Many of the illustrated designs have a hand-drawn type element to them.  Pretty funny & cool that a lot of pieces in this capsule have my handwriting all over them, including this longsleeve where the whole front is just stacked text.

I really like this next one .. as a ground connoisseur this one feels extra NY to me.
